I am a Systemic Family Psychotherapist registered with UKCP and AFT. I have worked as a school and university counsellor, a director of a counselling diploma course, as well as teaching systemic therapy on psychology counselling doctorate courses in UWE and USW. I have a lot of experience in the design, management and delivery of courses from FE, foundation to postgraduate level.
I have completed training in EMI for trauma and courses in mindfulness, attachment theory and Open Dialogue and I provide supervision for groups and individual therapists. The service I provide acknowledges the importance of diversity (cultural, racial, gender and sexual diversity).
In my practice I endeavour to use a collaborative and 'not-knowing' position that encourages clients to establish their own goals and build on the skills and solutions they may have already developed and this is the same orientation I bring to my students and colleagues.
I have drawn on a considerable amount of the skills I have acquired over the years in teaching and television production so I understand the importance of effective communication and active listening and how they can produce new meanings when working together.
