1. Clinical Supervisors 

We are looking to recruit 2-3 Clinical Supervisors

YCS Counselling is a low-cost counselling service based in Cardiff. We offer placement opportunities to student counsellors in their final year of training. Some counsellors stay on to volunteer with us once they qualify to gain extra experience.

The service is aimed at people who cannot otherwise access or afford counselling. This service predominantly helps people presenting with mild-moderate therapeutic needs. We currently have a short waiting list of 6-10 weeks.

We are due to intake an additional 15+ students over the next 8 weeks and are looking for supervisors who can offer a blend of online and regular in person supervision.

Supervision will include group and individual session alternating fortnightly to comply with training requirements.  

Rate of pay £40 per hour with one group of 4 counsellors. (free room hire at our centre)

2. Service Manager - Low Cost Counselling

 

Location: YCS Counselling, The Parade, Cardiff
Salary: £28,000 pro rata
Working Pattern: 21 hours per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at our Therapy Centre)
Closing Date: 28th February 2025
Interviews: 13th March 2025
Start Date: April 2025 (includes 2-week handover)

Role: Service Manager (Low-Cost Counselling - 1 year Maternity Cover)

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Service Manager to oversee our Low-Cost Counselling service. This maternity cover role is ideal for someone passionate about improving access to psychological support, with experience in counselling and managing counselling students on placement and volunteer counsellors.

Role Purpose:
To manage and develop YCS's Low-Cost Counselling services, ensuring high-quality support and guidance for both clients and volunteer counsellors. You will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the service, providing clinical advice, and supporting the Director in service development.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Significant experience in counselling with diverse groups.
  • Strong understanding of therapeutic interventions, safeguarding, and ethical/legal requirements.
  • Strong organisational and staff management skills.
  • Ability to work independently, flexibly, and as part of a team.
  • Empathy with our client base and commitment to our charitable mission.
  • Diploma in Counselling (or equivalent) and current BACP/NCPS registration.
  • IT literacy.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in managing students on placement and volunteer counsellors.
  • Knowledge of the health sector, including bid/tender writing.
  • Experience working with marginalized communities and under-represented groups.
  • Experience in third-sector or social enterprise environments.
